What could happen if you accepted your reality instead of resisting it?

What if the key to joy, peace, and fulfilment is to flow with the river of life and not swim against its current? (Warning: Real talk! No sugar coating!)

While on a call with a coach friend yesterday, I noticed this quote on the wall in front of me:

It sparked a question in me that I asked my friend:
“What makes the river move in you?”

We explored this question together, reflecting on what brings us alive.

Then, he asked me:

“And what’s the sea you’re moving toward?”

I loved his question, but I started to wonder:
“What if we stopped always thinking about the destination and became more present in the journey itself?”

Because the journey is the life.
The life, the river flows in this present moment.

In these past two weeks, I’ve heard these frustrations from so many people:
Sunday dread before Monday.
“It is what it is.”
“I don’t want to go to work.”
“I’m done.”
Complaints about the weather.
Living with the mindset of “When I have this … then I will be happy.”

This aches my heart.

I wrote about this in my journal and shared it on Instagram—how we have a choice:
Do we resist, or do we accept and surrender to our current reality?

The thing is,
If you resist the present, you create suffering.
If you’re stuck in the past or anxious about the future, you create suffering.
If you keep seeking happiness as destination of “when” you have something, you will never find it.

Instead: if you allow yourself to be present, you find everything you need, joy and peace.

You can observe your thoughts like a river flowing by.
It’s your choice whether you get in and let them carry you away or stand on the river bank and watch them pass, staying grounded in the awareness of now.

Life is now.

And if you’re dreading and exhausted constantly with what you find in the now, then that means something is out of alignment and something needs to change.

Everyone deserves a life where the river moves in them—
Where joy, peace, and fulfilment are the norm.

What if you no longer dreaded Mondays but looked forward to them?

What if you were fulfilled in the journey of it all, not always seeking a destination?
