Hello beautiful soul, 🫀
I'm nervous today.
Tomorrow I leave for the Medicine Festival: a five-day conscious festival held on a gorgeous nature estate. I have never been to a festival like this, but I am so excited about the endless lineup of ceremonies and rituals to the theme of “walking together: the pilgrimage of the heart.”
I mean how fitting is that theme for me?
In this festival, you camp for the whole duration with other 9000+ people.
I have never camped in my life, let alone 5 nights?! 🤣
Plus I am getting a ride to the site with people that I’ve never met before.
Plus I am trusting a fellow volunteer to bring my tent.
Plus I don’t know even how to put the tent together when I get it? 😄 But I trust there are people around who do this all the time and are open to help.
As you can see, there is a lot of trust that goes into this.
There is so much unknown. And yet, isn't that just life?
We never truly know what the next moment holds.
We never know what tomorrow brings.
I don't know how this week will unfold. And neither do you, about your own.
It’s the human experience.
I've been having a lot of conversations lately about trusting the unknown. And here's what genuinely helps me when I'm standing at the edge of something uncertain:
Do everything within your control, then let go.
I've done my research. I've prepped. I've packed thoughtfully. I've familiarised myself with where I'm going. I've done what I can to feel centred and prepared.
And now? The rest is out of my hands.
We cannot control everything, and we were never meant to. Life asks us to make decisions and then trust that it will unfold. That we will navigate what comes.
That we are capable of more than we think.
Here's what I know to be true:
When you are calm and centred, life responds to that so.
When you are stressed, anxious, and grasping for control, life responds to that too.
A good example of this is when you get up on a wrong foot, and one thing leads to another, and it becomes a ripple effect of one thing after another going wrong.
When we are calm, on the other hand, then things flow and unfold with more ease.
So if you're navigating something right now, something where you want answers now, where the uncertainty feels unbearable, where you just want to know.
Ask yourself: have I done everything within my control to move toward an answer?
If yes, then put your focus somewhere else. Calm your nervous system. Create space.
My college teacher once told me something I've never forgotten:
"If you're stressed, the universe is too busy looking after you to bring you solutions. Calm down. And once you're calm, there is room for the answers to arrive."
I'll leave you with that.
Trust the unknown. Do what you can. Release the rest. The answers will come, sometimes just not on our timeline.
I'll be offline for the rest of this week at the festival. But I'll be back in your inbox soon, sharing everything, about the tent setup, the nerves, the magic, all of it.
I have a feeling this is going to be well outside my comfort zone. And I have a feeling it's going to be life-changing.
🌿
With lots of love, Essi
