Hello my dear reader,
Last week, I wrote about being a Highly Sensitive Person, and my journey of realising I’m not a “hard-core hustler,” but actually someone far more sensitive than I had ever acknowledged. (Read it here if you missed it.)
Through taking time off, resting my nervous system, and being with someone who makes me feel safe enough to slow down and switch off… I’ve started to understand myself in a very different way.
Beyond grateful.
This week, I want to share something that sits closely underneath sensitivity:
Giver burnout
Because my burnout definitely did not come from doing too little.
It came from giving too much, for too long, without enough return to myself.
This is especially common for highly sensitive people, and those in caring professions: such as healthcare, teaching, and wellbeing work.
For many women, this can feel even more familiar. There is often a deep nurturing instinct, a natural pull to care for others. And when we’re not conscious of our own needs, that giving can quietly come at the cost of ourselves.
Anyone out there resonate with this? Please reply and let me know!
For sensitive people, for empaths, for those who naturally give,
we often overextend before we even realise it.
We give time.
We give energy.
We give emotional holding.
We give support.
We give even when we are already running on empty.
And eventually… the body speaks.
Through burnout.
Through exhaustion.
Through overwhelm.
To prevent giver burnout, balancing giving and receiving is key.
However, I’ve been learning that balance isn’t about doing everything “right.”
It’s about noticing when you are moving away from yourself or when the cup tips over too much, that we can gently choose to turn back to ourselves.
Again and again.
Journal prompts for this week:
If I were to look at my life in percentages, what is the balance between giving and receiving right now?
What about at work?
In my relationships, do I feel I am giving more than I am receiving?
On a scale of 1–10, how exhausted do I feel right now?
Where am I giving from a centred, resourced place?
Where am I giving from depletion?
What needs to shift for me to rebalance internally?
When was the last time I truly gave something to myself?
What 3 actions can I commit to this week to refill my cup?
THE CLOSING THOUGHT
Balance is not a fixed state.
It is something that moves and shifts with us.
We are never perfectly balanced. Life is constantly changing, and so are we.
That is why it’s so important to check in with ourselves often, not from judgement, but from awareness.
Because life isn’t static.
Our energy isn’t static.
Our capacity is not always the same.
More reflections like this are coming next week.
I’ll leave you with this:
You are not here to pour from an empty cup.
You are here to learn how to stay connected to it,
refilling, returning, and rebalancing as you move through life.
So that you can experience more peace, presence, and ease along the way. 🫀
With love,
Essi
🧙🏻♀️🔮🪄 Oracle Card for This Week 🧙🏻♀️🔮🪄

This feels funnily fitting.
I recently got a new oracle deck, and I’ve been completely obsessed with it.
This week’s message came through as Spirit Animal Panda, with the guidance:
“Ask how to bring balance to the situation and into your heart.”
Which feels beautifully aligned with everything I’ve just been reflecting on around giver burnout and balance… you really can’t make this up. ✨
If this resonates, you might like this as a gentle support space.
I offer Online and In-Person Oracle card readings for anyone who feels called to explore what their current season is asking of them, especially when things feel unclear, overwhelming, or out of balance.
These readings are a blend of intuitive card guidance and a coaching-style conversation. It’s a space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with yourself, so you can find clarity in what’s already within you.
💛 60-minute reading – £59
💛 30-minute reading – £29
If you feel called, you can simply reply to this email and we’ll take it from there.
