Walking side by side - Why walking and talking is so powerful?
Eye to eye can feel intense. But side by side? That’s where true connection flows.
My dear reader,
If you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been reading for a while, thank you for being here. These weekly letters are my place for heart-to-heart chats with my community.
Last week, I shared how I spoke to a room full of men—senior leaders in a corporate setting—and how moved I was by their response. I watched as their shoulders relaxed, eyes sparked, and they shared what the world rarely gives them space to say:
That they, too, want to connect.
That they, too, want to speak with heart.
That they, too, are tired of being perfect all the time.
Men need spaces to be heard, held, and human—just like anyone.
Since 2021, we’ve been walking and talking in Connected You Community together through the seasons.
It’s one of the great joys of my work. These simple, powerful monthly gatherings that bring people together, side by side, outside the walls of daily life.
Why walking and talking is so powerful
There’s something magical that happens when we walk side by side.
No pressure to make eye contact. No table between us. Just open skies, steady footsteps, and the natural rhythm of movement that helps untangle thoughts and soften hearts.
Walking gets us out of our heads and into our bodies.
It grounds us.
It calms the nervous system.
It allows conversation to flow more freely, without the performance, without the masks.
And when we walk together, we co-regulate. We connect.
Walls come down.
Stories are shared.
Insight bubbles up from places we didn’t expect.
That’s the power of walking.
It creates a safe, open space for clarity, connection, and truth to emerge—gently, naturally, and without force.
In a world that moves fast and talks loud, walking brings us back to ourselves—and to each other.
This past Sunday, we walked and talked in Tate Modern and Thames riverside for our monthly Connect + Create Club. We walk, talk and get creative and sketch inside London’s amazing galleries! See the video I created about it:
We have hosted women’s walk and talks since 2021, and the next one is this Sunday.
And now, we want to create a space for men to walk and talk, too.
If you know a man who might benefit from this space, please share this with him.
We’re hosting our first 2-hour Men’s Walk & Talk in Regent’s Park this Saturday—and we’d love to welcome him in.
Connection isn’t just a conversation.
It’s how we are going to change the world, one walk at a time, together.
Shoulder by shoulder.
Side by side.
With love,
Essi x
PSSST…. We will take a summer break for the month of August, but in September we will come together to walk for a cause: suicide prevention. Stay tuned for that as we will do a combined walk and talk altogether. Deets coming soon!
